Light Propagation Volumes
Růžička, Tomáš ; Tóth, Michal (referee) ; Milet, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of master thesis is to describe different calculation of global illumination methods including Light Propagation Volumes. All three steps of LPV calculation are widely described: injection, propagation and rendering. It is also proposed several custom extensions improving graphics quality of this method. Two parts of design and implementation are focused on scene description, rendering system, shadow rendering, implementation of LPV method and proposed extensions. As conclusion, measurement and several images of application are presented, followed by comparison in environment with diffenent parameters, thesis summary with evaluation of achieved results and suggestions of further improvements.
Searching for Similar 3D Models
Karásek, Miroslav ; Najman, Pavel (referee) ; Španěl, Michal (advisor)
The work deals with the design and implementation of similarity based search in database of 3D models. The database is realised using of quick Python data structures. For Spherical harmonics and 3D Zernike deskriptors extraction are used third-party libraries. REST application interface is designed to access the search engine. A web based application was designed as an example of the REST application interface usage. Furthermore, the work deals with the search quality, presents results of the implemented database and suggests possible improvements.
Solution of space orientation distribution of fiber particles by means of Fokker-Planck equation for laminar flow
Karkulík, Jan ; Knotek, Stanislav (referee) ; Jícha, Miroslav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis presents mathematical model of spatial orientation distribution for fiber particles in aerosol suspension. The influence of laminar flow and Brownian motion is considered. This corresponds with the advection-diffusion model known as Fokker-Planck equation. Perturbation series is used to determine the solution of this partial differential equation. The approximate solution is obtained as a finite series of spherical harmonics.
Light Propagation Volumes
Mikulica, Tomáš ; Polok, Lukáš (referee) ; Kobrtek, Jozef (advisor)
This thesis deals with problem of computation of global illumination in real-time. Two methods are described. Namely Reflective Shadow Maps and Light Propagation Volumes. The first of them deals with the problem by using extended Shadow Mapping algorithm. The second one uses scene embedded into a 3D grid together with Spherical harmonics to compute light propagation in the scene. Furthermore this thesis contains results of measurement of the rendering speed of the Light Propagation Volumes algorithm with various settings on several machines. Quality of the resulting output of the algorithm is also evaluated.
Searching for Similar 3D Models
Šťáva, Zdeněk ; Veľas, Martin (referee) ; Španěl, Michal (advisor)
This paper deals with searching similar 3D models in a database containing up to thousands of models. It focuses in particular on the comparison of existing descriptors used to describe 3D models and the subsequent evaluation of similarity between models. In particular, the descriptors Rotation Invariant Spherical Harmonics and 3D Zernike Descriptor are compared. It also describes the use of libraries to extract these descriptors and to design of various experiments with these libraries over several object databases. It examines the effect of scale, translation, deformation and rotation of different 3D models on the resulting descriptor and the overall accuracy of both selected methods. These results compare.
Synthesis and Characterization of Perovskite Nanostructures
Hricov, Štefan ; Zákutná, Dominika (advisor) ; Kalbáčová Vejpravová, Jana (referee)
The present Bachelor's thesis is focused on the improvement of the hydrothermal condi- tions for BaTiO3 nanoparticles synthesis to obtain better morphology, narrow size distri- bution, and high purity of the prepared product. Particular emphasis is on the influence of different parameters in reaction, such as co-solvent, co-surfactant, the ratio between oleic acid to oleylamine, and ex-situ sodium oleate, on the resulting structure and morphology of BaTiO3 nanoparticles. The structural purity was examined with powder X-ray diffraction with Rietveld refinement to obtain and follow changes in lattice parameters and coherent domain sizes. Moreover, from the refinement of PXRD patterns, the rough estimate of a synthesis by-product (BaCO3) abundance was extracted. Furthermore, implementing the spherical harmonics function within the Rietveld refinement allowed us to access the average nanocrystallite shapes with direction-dependent crystallite sizes. The crystallite shapes and sizes were compared with the physical nanoparticle size obtained from trans- mission electron microscopy experiments. The thesis is completed with attenuated total reflectance Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy spectra, which gave us insight into the attachment of the oleic acid at the nanoparticle surface. Keywords: BaTiO3,...
Guiding a Path Tracer with Local Radiance Estimates
Berger, Martin ; Wilkie, Alexander (advisor) ; Křivánek, Jaroslav (referee)
Path tracing is a basic, statistically unbiased method for calculating the global illumination in 3D scenes. For practical purposes, the algorithm is too slow, so it is used mainly for theoretical purposes or as a base for more advanced algorithms. This thesis explores the possibility of improving this algorithm by augmenting the sampling part, which computes outgoing directions during ray traversal through the scene. This optimization is accomplished by creating a special data structure in a preprocess step, which describes approximate light distribution in the scene and which then aids the sampling process. The presented algorithm is implemented in the PBRT library.
